Hydraulic structures

Hydrological dimensioning is the starting point of the design of all hydraulic structures. Dimensioning helps ensure that the hydraulic structure works as intended under normal and extreme conditions, which need to be taken into consideration as the climate changes. If a hydraulic structure is to be used to change the water flow or level of a body of water, a permit application must be submitted to the Regional State Administrative Agency.

We have extensive experience in planning the construction of and repairs to hydraulic structures and applying for permits.

  • Submerged weirs for applications such as improving water level stability and usability of water resources
  • Banks and weirs to protect areas prone to waterlogging or flooding.
  • Pumping stations for the drainage of land behind banks and the controlled conveyance of flood and stormwater
  • Sizing and planning of spaces between bridge supports and culverts for controlled conveyance of water masses
  • Demolitions, repairs and structural changes of hydraulic structures to meet changed hydrological conditions
